– Blatt’s NBA dream nearing a reality (from Lenny Megliola, Metrowestdailynews.com):

” He may not be a household basketball name in America, but there isn’t an NBA team that doesn’t know who David Blatt is.Blatt, 55, who played at Framingham South High School and Princeton, carved out an illustrious coaching career in Europe. –  Santa Cruz Warriors named ‘Development Champion’ by NBA D-League (from Andrew Matheson, Santa Cruz Sentinel):

” The Santa Cruz Warriors might as well have installed revolving doors to the front entrance of Kaiser Permanente Arena last season. The frequency with which players and coaching personnel went to and from the NBA ranks kept the D-League team’s roster in a constant shuffle.

But while the amount of turnover the Warriors experienced last season often provided a cruel reminder of the NBA’s pull, it wasn’t without merit. Wednesday, the league recognized the Santa Cruz Warriors with the 2013-14 D-League Development Champion award, which is given to the team that best embodies the league’s goals of developing NBA talent through call-ups and assignments.”
